Pavlov's Law

http://youtu.be/0MkWY3mu4hM

This video piece demonstrates the principles or design through unity, which is represented with pack of dogs I have surrounding me.  There is Emphasis present, as all of the dogs are focused on me.  The emphasis is directed towards the rawhide bones and bag of dog biscuits that I have in my hands.  There is repetition and rhythm created through the movements of the dogs as well as their cries for the treats.

The principles of design are demonstrated in the video segment through a clear Emphasis being on the finger nails, as well as the music playing in the background at the club.  There is also added interest of voices and lights.  I added text as well as drops in the audio to create an alternating rhythm.

This design study, has a clear emphasis, balance, as well as unity present in the composition.  There is a sense of balance created through the placement of the figures in the video as well as unity present.  It is clear these objects, myself, the ice cream cone, my breakfast and coffee are unified.  The balance is asymmetrical.  There is rhythm and movement present.  The speeding up of the audio creates a strange alternating rhythm.  The movements of myself also have a rhythm present.  There is texture, contrast, space, proportion.  All of the elements of art can be found within this piece as well.

Make up

The principles of design are represented in this video piece through repetition, unity, scale/proportion as well as balance any rhythm.  The emphasis is on the face of the subject getting marked and ready for "make up".  There is unity between the make up artist and the subject as well as the subject and the mirror.  There is repetition present with the writing style and actions of the make up artist as well as repetition present with the subjects movements of eyes closing, laughing, talking etc.  There is balance present in the framing of the asymmetrical shot as well as balance in the choices of the placement of text by the make up artist on the subject's face.  There is also natural balance present with the facial features of the subject in view.  Texture, line, shape/form and contrast are present within this study as. well.

Special Thanks to Laura Bradley for make up design, photography and framing of the shot.

Birthday cake and candles

This study demonstrates principles of art and design through emphasis, pattern, unity, proportion This study involved lighting a pack of birthday candles in a pattern.  The pattern I attempted to follow would often be interrupted by an alternating pattern in avoidance of burning my hands.  The emphasis is on the figure who is creating movement and rhythm with the same repeating action of lighting and relighting the same number of candles over and over again until this cannot be done any further. Scale and unity are present through the position of the candles on the cake you have a unified piece with different interesting shapes present. Scale is not distorted against reality but there is variety in the size of shape and form present.  The lighting is a nice contrast created through the illumination of the figure and the brightness of the light created when all of the candles are lit.
